Screaming round in a perfect arc with not a centimetre of side slip, banked over at 45º,catapulting round the turn and exiting faster than you went in; then looking back to see two perfect knife tracks in the snow the sensation of carving a ski is just awesome! The truth is that thanks to modern skis, you can start tracking around on your edges after just a few weeks skiing. Its the next level thats tricky. Why do you lose it the moment you ramp up the speed? How do you take up those extreme angles without skidding out? The distinguished team of Peter Hart (presenter and coach), Sean Langmuir (former Olympian and BASI training manager) and Amanda Pirie (former World Cup racer) have the answers. And they dont focus solely on carving. They also show how to vary and shape your turns to control speed and cope with every eventuality on the piste. The DVD is packed full of extras including bundles of advice from the Ski Club of Great Britain. Piste Performance, the second instalment from the Skiing Skills collection, was filmed across the Alps by award winning Acrobat TV. A high speed, 1000 frames per second camera was used for the first time, producing breath-taking action sequences and offering a detailed insight into the skills needed to master your piste performance and carving.
Peter Hart (10 years on the world speed tour, member of the 40 knot club and technique guru) teams up with his best mate and most bitter rival, Dave White (production board world record holder and international speed colossus) to lay bare the vital clues. And they have gathered every world speed record holder and speed icon. Finian Maynard, Karin Jaggi, Bjorn Dunkerbeck and Antoine Albeau don’t just sail up down for the camera, they go into intimate detail about their set-ups, their styles, how to cope with chop, gusts and lulls and what they do personally to leave the opposition floundering.
Filmed at the World Speed and Slalom championships in Fuerteventura, ‘Faster’ is endlessly informative, hilarious, spectacular and will appeal equally to potential world beaters and ambitious amateurs.

Serious About Waves #3 Learn to loop
|
|
The forward loop – it’s the daddy of all moves! To do one grants you immediate super-hero status on your local patch. But it is, of course, insanely difficult, wildly dangerous and should only be attempted by adolescents or those with a hefty life insurance. Perhaps. Perhaps not …
In what is surely the most ambitious windsurfing project ever, coaching legend Peter Hart, very ably abetted by looping aficionado John ‘the Rock’ Hibbard takes 7 ‘normal’ windsurfers spanning all ages, sexes, backgrounds and body shapes to Fuerteventura with the sole aim of getting them to do it. What started out as a week-long project spanned months and even years and turned into a compelling, fascinating, informative and often hilarious epic.
Throughout the journey the loop is broken into minute detail. There are literally hundreds of training tips and exercises. But most importantly they explore what it is that makes you suddenly decide to pull the trigger and throw yourself over the handlebars.
Most of Learn to Loop was filmed during the PWA SuperX and freestyle World Cup, where packs of the sport’s idols are on hand to encourage, perform and tell their own looping stories.
Stunning demonstrations, horrible crashes, tears, laughter, this is a must-see, real life drama of the highest quality. Did the looping hopefuls make it? There’s only one way to find out.
